Starting next year, SUNY schools will no longer ask college applicants if they’ve ever been convicted of a felony. The decision was made to eliminate that question on SUNY college applications by the SUNY Board of Trustees in Albany yesterday. While conviction inquiries will no longer be asked when a student first applies for college, criminal history questions will still be asked if a student seeks on-campus housing, to study abroad, or an internship.
