A Johnson City firefighter who is already on leave says he now plans to retire.
Robert Garey has informed the village that he plans to retire at the end of the month.
He was put on leave last month after village police charged him with a misdemeanor count of criminal contempt. Garey was arrested by state police last June for aggravated harassment, accused of calling a woman’s cell phone and threatening to kill her.
Garey was placed on leave while the village investigated both incidents.
