SV Schools Evacuated Monday

Students at a local school were evacuated for a short time Monday after an electrical problem.
A short in an outlet in the kitchen of the Richard T. Stank Middle School caused the evacuation of both that school and the adjoining Susquehanna Valley High School, both in Conklin.
The circuit breaker tripped around 11:15am. The district says their maintenance staff reacted quickly to shut off power to the affected area and call the fire department.
Students and staff were allowed back into their buildings about 30 minutes later.
Only the outlet was damaged.
