Matthew Taranto, 28, of Trumansburg has been indicted for the November 2010 shooting of his father, Salvatore.
A Tompkins County Grand Jury charged Taranto with second degree murder.
Conviction could bring a sentence of 25 years to life.
Taranto, who has been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndome, lived with his parents.
Asperger’s is an autism spectrum disorder, characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction.
