This inspiring and hilarious play tells the story of four women during the French Revolution who fight for their own futures and for the future of France.

Set in 1793 Paris, “The Revolutionists” follows playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle as they navigate the complexities of revolution and rebellion. Featuring a diverse and talented cast, this play explores themes of feminism, courage, and the power of women’s voices.

Director Carla Salsman explained why “The Revolutionists” is such an important play for today’s audiences: “This play is a reminder that women have always been at the forefront of change and revolution. Even in the face of adversity and danger, these women never gave up on their fight for equality and justice. It’s a message that resonates with us now more than ever.”

Performing in the round adds a unique and immersive element to the production, allowing the audience to feel as though they are a part of the action. “The Revolutionists” promises to be a thrilling and thought-provoking experience. Both the Sayre Theatre and Keystone Theatre are excited to bring this production to their audiences.

“We’re thrilled bringing something new and fresh to the stage,” said actor Liz Garofalo “It’s a play that has the power to inspire and uplift, plus it’s hilarious – and we can’t wait for our audiences to see it.”
