The following was written by the Tioga County Health Department: Tioga County is seeing around 20 new cases of COVID-19 every day, many of which are directly related to exposures at school and the workplace. While we are seeing some breakthrough cases occur among the vaccinated population, this last week we saw a staggering 113 new COVID-19 infections among those who are unvaccinated, with 83 of those cases being over the age of 12 who are eligible to get vaccinated.
With the continuous growth of positive cases being seeing in Tioga County Schools, we remind our community to please keep your children home from school if they are sick. If you work in a school and you are experiencing any symptoms, you should also stay home to avoid exposing students and other staff members. New COVID-19 infections have been directly related to an exposure to someone at school who was experiencing symptoms.
Protect yourself and your family: wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash your hands, disinfect frequently touched objects, and get vaccinated against COVID-19! We also encourage you to get your family vaccinated against flu as soon as possible!
