(Lockwood, N.Y.) – The Another Door Opens Church and Community Center in Lockwood is hosting a grand opening celebration next month. The facility, the newest arm of the Tioga County Open Door Mission, is located in the former Lockwood United Methodist Church. Activities will take place on Sunday, July 10th from 2:00-3:30PM, and will include live music by the contemporary Christian band Chronicles, light refreshments, and informational sessions about the services that will be offered.
The revitalization of the former church is designed to bring the building back to its original use as a community hub. The mission plans to expand its food pantry hours there, and the new community room will offer meeting space for area groups, nonprofits, and families to host a wide variety of events, such as community meals and family reunions. The sanctuary will still be used for religious services and weddings.
