Over half of Tioga County NYSEG customers lost power for about a half hour Friday morning. It happened at 6am as many customers would normally be trying to start their day. Complete power outages in Owego, Candor, Newark Valley and other municipalities accounted for over 12,000 customers without power. NYSEG has 19,000 customers in Tioga County. No outages were reported in any other surrounding counties. Power was restored to most customers around 6:30 and later for those in Apalachin, Campville, and south Owego. No word yet on what caused the interruption.
