7-Eleven, the world’s largest convenience store, agreed to buy all Speedway convenience and gas stations from Marathon Petroleum Corp. for $21 billion in a cash transaction expected to closes in the first quarter of 2021.
Two current Speedway stores in Tioga County and one in western Broome will be rebranded as 7-Eleven after the deal is finalized.
The two locations are:
7774 NY Route 434, Apalachin;
1081 NY-Route 17C, Owego.
Speedway is the second-largest convenience store chain in the U.S., with most 4,000 stores across 36 states. Marathon is follows a succession of energy companies shuttering retail networks to concentrate on making fuel. On the other hand, 7-Eleven will expand its footprint to include roughly 14,000 locations in the U.S.
