New York State Police have arrested 44-year-old Michael Kelly of Apalachin. He’s charged with 3rd degree Burglary charges after troopers responded to a 911 call Sunday for the report of a man breaking things and threatening the owner of Sweeney’s Market on State Route 434 in Apalachin.

The owner of the store says he heard Kelly yelling, and banging on the windows of his store. When he unlocked the door and attempted to go outside, Kelly forced his way into the store. Once inside, police say Kelly continued to yell and threaten the owner as he smashed beer bottles on the floor.

Eventually he followed the owner outside, and waited for the police to arrive. Kelly was arrested without further incident and was arraigned in Town of Nichols court. He’s been remanded to Tioga County Jail without bail pending his next court appearance.
