Cody J. Lowe, 25 of Apalachin, who is employed as a Corrections Officer with NYS Department of Correction and Community Supervision, was arrested early Friday for Driving While Intoxicated after he crashed his motorcycle near the Apalachin Library. New York State Police said Lowe was off-duty at the time of the accident at approximately 2:06 a.m. Friday.

Troopers responded to the entrance of the library driveway and found Lowe lying on the ground near his motorcycle. An investigation revealed Lowe was traveling west on Main Street when he failed to negotiate a curve, traveled several feet off the roadway and struck a tree.  The motorcycle went airborne, stuck the ground and impacted a flag pole.  Lowe was ejected from the motorcycle and landed several feet from the pole.

A trooper stabilized his head a neck until an ambulance arrived. Lowe was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital for complaints of pain to his back and arm; he also sustained a laceration to his head and an abrasion on his hip.

Lowe was issued appearance tickets to the Town of Owego court for July 16.
