The child was wearing an Operation Life Saver tracker, which gives out a radio signal that can be tracked with special equipment. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office and Vestal Police Department each provided a patrol with the equipment to locate the child’s tracker and assist in the search. The child was found safe a short time later in a wooded area in the Town of Vestal and was treated for minor injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the
Apalachin Fire Department and Vestal Emergency Medical Services as well as the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and Vestal Police Department.
