On Monday, New York State Police Community Narcotics Team – Southern Tier, along with State Police Owego, Tioga County Sheriff’s Office and the Waverly Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence located at 637 State Route 17C in Barton, Tioga County. The search warrant was the result of an investigation into the possession and sale of crystal methamphetamine. A search of the residence led to the seizure of one gram of crystal methamphetamine, suboxone strips, a digital scale and packaging material.
The following individuals were arrested and charged:

- Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Misdemeanor) x 2 count
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (Felony)
- Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (Felony)
- Richard E. Griffith, Jr.
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Misdemeanor)
- Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (Felony)
- Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Misdemeanor) x 2 counts
- Joshua M. Chapman
- Crimanal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (Felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (Felony)
- Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Misdemeanor) x 2 counts
All three defendants were arraigned in the Town of Owego Court, where they were remanded to the Tioga County jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 property bond.
