The defense delivered its closing argument yesterday in the third Cal Harris murder trial.

It was a packed courtroom as friends and family of both Michele and Cal Harris filled nearly every seat in Schoharie County Court. Defense attorney Bruce Barket began his summation just after 9:30 a.m. Barket’s lecture was complimented by a lengthy PowerPoint presentation. He finished the defense’s summation at 3 p.m. The prosecution said it will need about three hours for its closing argument, so Schoharie County Judge George Bartlett excused jurors until 9:15 a.m. this morning.

Jurors were not allowed to take notes during closing arguments. They have been allowed to take notes throughout the duration of the 11 weeks of witness testimony.
