On Thursday, The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection with a burglary that occurred in the Village of Candor on the morning of May 11th at the Candor Emergency Medical Services building. The Sheriff’s Office arrested Daniel Merrill of Spencer for Burglary and Grand Larceny. Merrill is accused of forcibly entering the Candor EMS building and stealing approximately $2000 cash. The stolen funds were proceeds from a Mother’s Day Chicken Barbecue fundraiser which Candor EMS personnel had held the previous day. The burglary was recorded by video surveillance and the Sheriff’s Office received several valuable tips from the public after posting the footage to Facebook. Tracy Jordan of Candor was also arrested after being located along with Merrill. Jordan was found to be wanted on arrest warrants issued by the Tioga County Family Court and the Elmira Police Department. Merrill was arraigned in the Candor Village Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail with no bail.
