Creative Community Talents Sought for Holiday Arts Initiatives

SHARE NOW

Tis the season of giving, and Tioga Arts Council (TAC) is asking community members to give their time and creative talents to two holiday initiatives:  Artfully Ornamental and Spread Cheer this Year.

Artfully Ornamental is a collaborative art event similar in spirit to the annual “Artfully SQUARED.” This initiative is a fundraiser for TAC as well as an opportunity to shop for a homemade gift. From now through Nov. 2, creators are asked to use any medium to design as many ornaments as they wish and then donate their ornaments to the TAC. The ornaments will be displayed in TAC’s gallery at 179 Front St., Owego, and offered for sale at a cost of $10.00 each.  The event runs through Dec. 23 or until all ornaments are sold, and all proceeds benefit the TAC. There is no fee to enter, and registration forms are available at http://www.tiogaartscouncil.org/artfully-ornamental.

Artfully Ornamental will be on display to the public from November 5 through December 23 during TAC’s open hours.

The second holiday initiative is to “Spread Cheer this Year” to residents of Riverview Manor Health Care and Elderwood Waverly. The community is asked to create holiday cards for these residents, and the goal is to collect 300 cards. The cards should include a winter scene (or whatever inspires) on the outside of a piece of construction paper, with “Happy Holidays” or “Season’s Greetings” written on the inside. Sign the card with just a first name and deliver by November 13 to Tioga Arts Council, 179 Front St., Owego.
