Domestic Violence Awareness Day Marked

Tioga County Health and Human Services employees wore purple last Thursday for Domestic Violence Awareness day. Employees also raised money to support A New Hope Center, a non-profit organization in Owego providing support and counseling for victims of domestic violence. Every year over 4.7 million women are victims of domestic violence. 1-in-4 women and 1-in-7 men will be victims of intimate partner violence at some point in their lives. Only 25% of physical assaults are reported to the police each year.
