The Food Bank of the Southern Tier will receive a large grant from New York State to purchase new equipment.
State Senator Lea Webb has announced that the local organization would get $400,000 from the New York State Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability and Technology Program.
The funds will be used to upgrade the Food Bank’s Heating and Air Conditioning systems as well as purchase a new tractor trailer and other warehouse equipment.
The Food Bank of the Southern Tier serves more than 31,000 people weekly in Broome, Chemung, Tioga, Schuyler, Steuben and Tompkins Counties.
