A pair of hiking trails that have been split by the 2006 and 2011 floods are now reconnected thanks to the work of a local boy scout.

Luke Saunders of Troop 30 in Newark Valley created two bridges across the waterway and added stone to the ground to prevent flooding in the Brick Pond Wetland Preserve.

Luke is set to earn Eagle Scout status now that the project is complete.
