Tioga County representatives took part in last week’s legislative conference of the New York State Association of Counties – or NYSAC – in Albany. The chair of the legislature, Martha Sauerbrey, was one of four from Tioga County to attend the three-day conference.
“The NYSAC Conference is very beneficial for county leaders, because you find out what’s going on in the state, you can bring that knowledge back to your county, and you can apply it there.”
Hundreds of officials from 57 counties and New York City attended meetings, educational forums, workshops, and state budget presentations over the three days. NYSAC also took a stand against the governor’s proposal to force them to share services or risk losing state funding. They told Gov. Cuomo that he should look at easing mandates on county government.
