A child was killed in a fire that destroyed a home in Richford on Tuesday afternoon. The home at 9266 West Creek Road was owned by William and Leanna Hulse, and the couple lived with their three children, 6-year-old Haley, 2-year-old Isabella, and 4-year-old Trent. During the fire, responders were not able to rescue Trent. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tioga County Coroner. The house was fully involved in fire when firefighters were called to the scene around 12:30 Tuesday. Crews had to battle strong winds as they tried to put out the fire. An hour after the fire was first called in, little of the house remained and all that could be seen was the frame and parts of the roof. The house is a total loss. Firefighters from Richford, Berkshire, Newark Valley, Slaterville Springs, and Speedsville were all called to the scene.
