Criminal Investigators with the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office have uncovered and shut down a substantial marijuana growing operation in the Town of Newark Valley, New York. On October 20, 2014 while attempting to serve an arrest warrant for an individual wanted in Broome County, investigators discovered a marijuana growing and processing operation at a residence located at 1416 Newark Valley Maine Rd. Investigators executed a search warrant at the residence and recovered more than 100 pounds of marihuana, worth approximately $424,000. Investigators also seized various drug paraphernalia from the residence. Investigators arrested and took into custody the owner of the residence, Richard B. Paugh, Jr., age 45. Paugh was charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 1st Degree, a class C Felony and was arraigned before Town of Newark Valley Justice John Schaffer. Paugh was committed to the Tioga County Jail with no bail.
