A late-morning fire in Newark Valley on Monday resulted in no injuries and minimal damage. A structure fire at Arnold’s Automotive at 10 North Main Street was called in just before 10:30 Monday, and two people were reportedly working on the gas line of a truck in the garage when the fire started. The two noticed the fire inside the garage, and the owner extinguished the fire. Fire crews arrived on the scene and noticed that the fire had actually spread to the roof of the building as well, and the fire was fully extinguished within an hour. The truck and building suffered minimal damage. Newark Valley, Owego, and West Corners fire departments all responded, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
