The Town of Nichols Agriculture Plan Steering Committee will host a community open house on Thursday, February 3rd at the Nichols Town Hall.
The open house will take place between 4:30 and 7:30 PM and will be an opportunity for Town residents to review the draft Agriculture and Farmland Protection Plan.
Agriculture Plan Steering Committee members and their consultants will be on hand to answer questions and take comments on the recommendations for protecting the Town’s agricultural land resources and enhancing the economic viability of the sector.
The draft plan documents the state of agriculture in Nichols today and assesses some of the challenges, strengths and opportunities facing it.
Agriculture in the Town of Nichols employed about 4 percent of the town’s labor force in 1999, the latest year for which data is available.
