Nichols man, woman facing drug, theft charges

A man and woman from Nichols are facing drug and theft charges following an investigation into a string of thefts in Pennsylvania.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Candi R. Bellis and 25-year-old Dustin J. Relyea were arrested days after police searched their home and allegedly found one pound of crystal meth and stolen items.

The sheriff’s office and investigators from the Pennsylvania State Police started a joint investigation into the reported burglaries on Oct. 28th.

A search warrant was executed on the suspect’s residence on South Main Street in Nichols on Oct. 29th. Along with the drugs, police allegedly discovered numerous stolen power tools and household items from the recent Pennsylvania burglaries.

Bellis and Relyea were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second and third degrees, both felonies, criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and misdemeanor counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

Both were arraigned and released to appear in Nichols Town Court on Nov. 13th. The investigation is still ongoing and additional arrested are expected.
