A state board is set to decide whether to reopen the bidding for a Las Vegas-style casino in the Southern Tier. The Gaming Facility Location Board is scheduled to vote tonight in response to a request from Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Last month the board chose sites for three casinos in the Catskills, Schenectady and the Finger Lakes but decided against recommending a fourth casino license to the Southern Tier. After local leaders in the region objected, Cuomo called on the board to reopen the bidding.
