The Owego Village Board approved the budget for the next fiscal year during their meeting this week.
The spending plan includes a 3.87 percent tax increase with a tax rate per thousand assessed value at $20.98.
The new tax rate is 78 cents higher per thousand assessed than the current rate.
The village board said in a Facebook post that the tax increase is due to rising costs of everything combined with the village’s assesment changing last minute last year which resulted in a tax rate decrease last year.
