GASFRAC Energy will be discussing an alternative fraking method that they say uses no water or harmful chemicals.
The process uses gelled liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to extract natural gas from shale.
The process will be discussed at the Owego Apalachin Middle School Auditorium on April 14th at 6:30PM.
The school is located on Sheldon Guile Boulevard in Owego
The Chief Technology Officer from GASFRAC will provide a presentation of this fracturing technology process.
The company says the properties of the LPG fracturing process result in significant savings in material handling expenses and fracture cleanup, while also offering increased well productivity.
The LPG returns to a gaseous state as it returns to the surface mixing with the natural gas.
The method reduces transportation and cleanup costs and eliminates disposal and waste costs.
GASFRAC Energy did its first multi-stage fracture treatment on a horizontal well in April 2008 with most of its work being performed in Canada and Texas.
They have worked in a wide variety of geology, including both NG and Oil in black shale, with over 700 well treatments to their credit.
