A nearly 100-year-old gas pump has gone missing in Owego. Its owners, Jim and Linda Dodge, are devastated. The gas pump stood in their front yard for more 70 years before it was taken overnight three weeks ago. The Dodges say they went to bed early the night of April 18, after a having dinner with extended family. Neighbors say they heard a loud noise that night, but they couldn’t see what it was. The pump weighs nearly 800 pounds and is nine and a half feet tall. Tioga County sheriff’s deputies say it would have taken at least two people. The pump was secured in the ground by large bolts and was connected to the Dodge family’s electrical system. Many in the area thought of the pump as a landmark. The family is offering a $500 reward for anyone who has information on what happened to the gas pump.
