Just before 11 o’clock this morning, the Owego Fire Department and Ambulance was called to Upstate Shredding on Corporate drive for a man who was allegedly “run over” by a tractor trailer. The fire department and ambulance responded quickly. Ambulance Medics requested the emergency medical helicopter from Guthrie to respond to the scene. Owego’s Engine 804 set up a landing zone on Route 38, in the front lawn of the Public Safety Building, and within 15 minutes Guthrie was on the ground. The Owego ambulance then transported the patient by ground from Upstate Shredding to the landing zone, just a few hundred yards away. The helicopter took off at 11:30, and we believe the patient was taken to Wilson Hospital. There’s no further information available at this time, so we still don’t know who was involved, or how badly they were hurt, but the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
