Ben Hall knows what it feels like to lose loved ones to cancer, and that’s why he is doing all he can to raise awareness of the disease. Hall, who lives in Maryland, has set off on a journey from his home state to Fulton, New York, the hometown of his uncle and aunt who both lost their battle to cancer. The journey consists of 353 miles on foot in 14 days, with only two days designated for rest, running anywhere from 23 to 32 miles each day. On Monday, his travels took him from Montrose, PA to right here in Owego. Ben says he’s doing this run to help people realize the steps they can take to help prevent themselves from getting diagnosed with cancer.
Ben also has a goal of raising money for the American Cancer Society. His goal is to raise $5,000 which he will donate to the American Cancer Society, and he is well on his way.
You can help Ben achieve his goal of $5,000 by visiting his website and making a donation of your own at crushcancer.webs.com. Currently he sits somewhere between $3,200 and $3,700 raised. Along Ben’s journey from Maryland, hotels and inns have also donated a free night of lodging to support his cause, with his stay in Owego being provided by the Glenmary Inn on Glenmary Drive.
