The discussion of whether or not to make the Owego Town Highway Superintendent position an appointed one has gained significant public attention this week. The proposal was made public at a press conference on Monday by Owego Town Supervisor Donald Castellucci. However, the Town Board had already voted not to hold a public hearing about this matter last month. On July 7th, the Owego Town Board voted 3-2 to not hold a public hearing about making the Town Highway Superintendent an appointed position. Despite this, Owego Town Supervisor Donald Castellucci held his press conference to gain community support for this discussion. The next Town of Owego Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday at 6:30PM in the Town Hall.
