Five people were arrested Monday and face multiple felonies and misdemeanors after a traffic stop and chase that started in Owego and ended along Route 17C. At 4pm yesterday, Owego police stopped a vehicle with a Pennsylvannia plate West Main Street. The driver and passengers fled away at a high speed only to crash into trees to avoid an oncoming police car. The driver tried to run away but was quickly nabbed by police.
The vehicle has packets of meth, heroin, scales, packaging materials and hypodermic needles. Police identified the suspects as 33-year old Mark L. Dailey of Elmira who faces eight charges; 32-year old Jessica Forsythe, also of Elmira, who faces four charges; and 41-year old Steven Spencer of Towanda, Pennsylvania, who faces seven charges. All had outstanding warrants from other departments on various charges. Among the charges against the trio are several felonies.
Also arrested and charged with misdemeanors was 24-year old Cullen Brassfield of Towanda, and 39-year old Gabriel Wilkins, of Athens, Pennsylvania. All were arraigned and remanded to the Tioga County jail pending further count action. Owego police were assisted by State Police and the Tioga Center squad.
