A report from the Owego Police Department claims Cal Harris was involved in a dispute with a student from SUNY Broome. The incident occurred following a class held at the Tioga County Administrative building. Police received a harassment complaint from a student shortly before 6 p.m. on March 5th. According to the student’s account, the incident followed a class discussion that led to a reference of the Cal Harris case. The instructor had been discussing a 1920s criminal case where the venue was changed, and the defendant may have gotten off. During this discussion, the student voiced his belief that “he thought Harris would get off”. A women in the back of the classroom then revealed that Harris was her father. The instructor then changed the subject. The report said after the class was over, the student left the building and entered the parking lot. The student said he saw Harris get out of a black large truck and that Harris immediately began shouting profanities and threatened the student. The account also stated Harris brushed up against the student several times in an attempt to start a fight. Police said Harris will be directed to appear in Owego Village Court to respond to the allegation at a future date.
Meanwhile, in the third murder trial of Cal Harris…former New York State Police DNA analyst John Brenner was back on the stand yesterday. Brenner worked as a DNA analyst for state police for 25 years. Later in the afternoon, Senior Special Agent with the United States Social Security Administration Michael McCole testified. The trial continues later today.
