The Owego boys’ varsity fell to Norwich 52-46 on Friday in the WEBO Game of the Week.
The Indians ran out to an early 17-7 lead after the first quarter, but Norwich came storming back in the second frame, trimming the Owego lead to one at the break.
The Purple Tornado took the lead for the first time with two minutes left in the third quarter and held on against the Indians, who hit four 3-pointers in the waning minutes of the game to make things interesting.
Stephen Yanchus led Owego with 13 points while teammate Mark Merritt scored 12.
Owego is 1-2 as they get ready to face Johnson City on Wednesday. That game will be broadcast live on WEBO, with coverage beginning at 7:45pm.
