In the Village of Owego, Kevin Millar retains his seat as Mayor from the Rebuild Owego Party defeating challenger Lisa Curatolo from her newly formed Positive Change Party. The two parties went head-to-head yesterday for the mayor’s office, clerk-treasurer’s office, and one trustee seat in each of three village wards. But despite a win for Millar with 394 votes to Lisa Curatolo’s 310 votes, and despite several experienced candidates in the Rebuild Owego Party, the Positive Change Party made a clean sweep for the remaining positions. In the 1st Ward it was Steve May defeating Matt Orend for trustee. 2nd Ward Trustee Earl Hartman retained his seat for the Positive Change party defeating Michelle Pollard. In the 3rd Ward Trustee Mike Phelps won over incumbent Jenny Ceccherelli, and in the race for Clerk-Treasurer, Rod Marchewka was challenged by current Deputy Mayor/Trustee Phoebe Morris from the Rebuild Owego Party. Marchewka defeated Morris by 75 votes; her term will expire at the end of this month. Village Justice Dave Boland quietly won re-election uncontested for the position of village judge.
