Monday is the scheduled start for the water project that will close Lake Street in Owego for several months. The street will be closed to traffic during the day as crews begin work to replace old water and sewer pipes. Suez Water is in charge of the project, which will close Lake Street until at least September. However, the sidewalks and businesses will remain open during the work. Parking will be available elsewhere in the village, with free lots on Court Street, Park Street, and behind the Owego Police Department on Temple Street. Vehicles will be allowed on Lake Street after 5pm each day, but parking won’t be allowed.
