A local leader has been charged with DWI. Village of Owego Mayor Kevin Millar announced on his Facebook page Sunday, that he was arrested for driving while intoxicated Saturday night.
In his statement he said he apologizes to the residents of Owego who have a reasonable expectation of better behavior and judgment from their mayor. He went on to say that he made a serious mistake and drove after having too much to drink. He said this is a personal issue and a personal problem for him that he will be dealing with, but that it has not impaired his performance as your mayor, nor will he let it, Millar says. None of the area police agencies have released any information yet on the arrest. Millar was elected Mayor in March of 2012 after serving as village trustee. He is up for re-election this March.
