Village of Owego trustees will make a decision Monday on a deal with Inflection Energy that could mean millions of dollars over the next 10 years.
The Denver-based natural gas drilling company wants to purchase the effluent, or treated water, from the village’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. The contract has the potential to generate at least $36.5 million in revenue for the village over the next 10 years, according to Mayor Ed Arrington, who was on the WEBO Morning Show Friday.
“There are a lot of benefits that [Owego] can get out of [this contract],” Arrington told Chris Schmidt and Lew Sauerbrey. “There’s no up front money from the village, all the money will come from the drilling company.”
The mayor says the revenues from the contract could be used instead of taxes to lower sewer rates and replace aging sewer lines.
The village board meeting will begin at 7pm on Monday at the Hubbard Auditorium in the Tioga County Office Building.
