Friends and family gathered yesterday in Owego to remember former Owego Mayor Ed Arrington. He passed away at his home last Wednesday afternoon of a heart attack. Pastor Terry Steenburg presided over the funeral service. Friends remembered Arrington for his willingness to help in all situations, and his ability to see people as people without bias towards their gender, race or color. He was the village of Owego’s first African American Mayor, and served three terms. He was laid to rest in the Tioga Cemetery. He leaves behind a wife and four children. He was 70 years old.
