Last Monday, Nicole Mathewson was found dead inside her home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The 32-year-old was an Owego native, who moved to Lancaster County to
teach at Brownstone Elementary School. Two men were arrested for homicide in connection to her death. But last night, Nicole was remembered for her life. Family,
friends and community members gathered outside Owego Free Academy to say kind words and show their support. Paper lanterns were set off at the end of the vigil, to honor her life and her memory. A “Go Fund Me” account has been created online in her memory, with all proceeds going to support Nicole’s family and to supply schoolbooks. You can donate by going to gofundme.com and searching for “Nicole Mathewson fund”.
