Owego-Apalachin School District residents are voting Tuesday on a proposal to purchase four new school buses.
It is part of the district’s replacement plan, which calls for buses to be taken out of service after 10-12 years on the road.
O-A Superintendent Dr. Bill Russell was on the WEBO Morning Show this morning.
“This replacement plan is part of a long-term strategy to maintain a high-quality, safe bus fleet to keep our students coming to school safely and also to keep our taxes down and our budget stable,” he told WEBO News Director Chris Schmidt.
Today’s measure would replace three full-size buses and one smaller bus. It would cost around $11,000 per year for the next five years after state aid is figured in.
Voting is open through 8pm at both the Owego and Apalachin Elementary Schools.
