Owego-Apalachin is the most recent school district in our area to release the results of water testing. The district tested for the presence of copper and lead in sources of drinking and cooking water throughout all four district buildings including the transportation facility. The tests, which were conducted on March 1st, revealed that almost all sources of water had levels of lead and copper below EPA limits.
The only water source which had elevated levels of lead was a drinking fountain in the Apalachin Elementary school which had been turned off at its source nearly eight years ago. It has since been removed.
