OFA Student at State of the State

An Owego Free Academy student had a front-row seat to Wednesday’s State of the State Address in Albany.
Keegan Evans is the Student Council President at OFA. The senior was picked to represent Tioga County at the address, given a chance to sit on the stage behind Gov. Cuomo with student representatives from all of the state’s 62 counties.
“That was quite the experience,” Keegan told Chris Schmidt on the WEBO Morning Show Thursday. “It was just overwhelming at first, but it was such an opportunity that I was presented with that I feel so lucky.”
The governor recognized the group of students as New York’s future leaders, and they were given a standing ovation from those in attendance.
“That was pretty awesome,” Keegan said while laughing. “I was not expecting that and I didn’t really know what to do so I just smiled and nodded. It was interesting.”
In addition to his academic achievements, Keegan has worked for WEBO as a Sports Producer for the last two years.
Johnson City student Marcella Jewel represented Broome County at Wednesday’s address and even got the chance to shake Gov. Cuomo’s hand.
