Last week’s storm not only knocked out power for many around the Southern Tier, it did serious damage to local businesses like the Open Door Mission in Owego. The Mission took on major flooding just as it did in the big flood last month. Donna Jantz from the Open Door Mission says that the thrift store will only be open again on Thursday but the rest of the mission will be closed much longer.

Jantz added that the Open Door Mission is in need of monetary donations as well as canned goods and other non perishable food items.
