Owego 2011 Budget Adopted, Justice Leaving

Town of Owego leaders adopted their 2011 budget Tuesday.
The $6.2 million spending plan includes a property tax increase of 6.3 percent to residents, meaning that the average taxpayer will see their bill go up by around $21 for next year.
Town residents will also see increases in their water and sewer bills.
In other news from the meeting…
Town board members ratified their new contract with employees, which includes no pay raises or health insurance cost increases for three years.
Also, a special meeting will be held Thursday to accept the resignation of Town Justice Robert Henning. Deputy Supervisor John Schumacher will take over as justice, meaning he will resign his seat on the town board. Castellucci hopes to appoint someone to replace Schumacher by the end of the year.
