The Owego-Apalachin School District is holding two hearings on their 2014-2015 budget this week. The first budget hearing starts at 7:30 tonight in the Apalachin Elementary School cafeteria, with the second meeting being held Wednesday at 7:30 in the Owego Free Academy Large Group Instruction hall. The district’s current $42.4 million spending plan includes a tax levy of 0.02 percent, which represents the state-calculated maximum allowable tax levy limit for the district. Owego-Apalachin is looking to close a $2.3 million structural deficit in the budget cycle. The current budget plan calls for $1.6 million in cuts, including 21 position cuts.
