Owego Police Chief Rick McCulskey reported on the results of a parking survey at Monday’s village board meeting.
The most popular suggestion would be to have employees and owners of downtown businesses park somewhere outside of the village. Another popular suggestion was to enforce a three-hour limit on all downtown parking spaces. The ideas will be discussed more at the next village board meeting.
Also Monday, trustees defeated a local law that would have prohibited the use of tobacco products in public places by a vote of three to two and Fire Chief Ed Bidwell says the department has taken care of all the state violations that were discovered earlier this year.
Mayor Ed Arrington was absent from the meeting.
