Owego Police warn of Strawberry Festival road closures

The Village of Owego will kick off its annual Strawberry Festival in the downtown the weekend of June 20–21, bringing with it two days of festivities—and several street closures.

The celebration begins Friday, June 20, with a street fair starting at 5 p.m., followed by a fireworks display scheduled for 9:30 p.m. To accommodate the event setup and crowds, multiple streets in the village will be closed to traffic.

Starting at 2 p.m. Friday, the following streets will be shut down:

  • Lake Street between Main Street and Front Street

  • Front Street between Paige Street and Parkers Lane

  • Church Street between Main Street and Front Street

At 5 p.m., Court and Park Streets between Main and Front Streets will also close. Later that evening, Front Street at Academy Street will shut down at 9 p.m. ahead of the fireworks show.

No on-street parking will be permitted in any of the affected areas. During the fireworks at 9:30 p.m., the Court Street Bridge and Front Street from Court Street to Academy Street will be closed to all traffic until the event concludes.

Additional closures, detours, and traffic pattern changes will begin at 5 a.m. Saturday and remain in place throughout the day as the festival continues.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
