This past Saturday Decker Ayers of Owego represented Owego-Apalachin Schools by competing in the RIT- NTID National Science Fair for deaf and hard of hearing students.
Decker Ayers is a 6th grader at Owego-Apalachin Middle School.
He entered in the middle school individual competition.
He was the youngest competitor and competed against approximately 55 students from California, Florida, Canada, Utah, and South Carolina among many other states.
His experiment was about substances that may prevent rust from forming and it was titled “Defense Against Rust”.
Decker’s project won First Place along with a monetary prize.
Decker is a member of Boy Scout Troop 38- Owego, Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation, OAMS Architectural Awareness club and many more activities.
